CIO Awards 2013 Finalists Announced
Meet the finalists in the 2013 New Zealand CIO Awards, which honours the most innovative leaders, rising stars and teams who are working in the business technology space.

The Emerging ICT Leader of the Year award, recognises, celebrates and encourages the exceptional ICT talent of professionals.

This inaugural award will showcase outstanding initiatives by private enterprise, public sector or academic institutions that will interest young people in learning about and successfully pursuing careers in information technology. The aim is to encourage enterprises to take action to ensure a healthy future pipeline of ICT professionals.
The winners of all awards will be announced at the gala dinner at the CIO Summit on June 11.
The winner of the CIO Lifetime Contribution Award will also be announced at the dinner.
This award is given to a high profile business person (including, but not necessarily a current or former CIO) from a public or private company whose contribution has significantly and uniquely impacted the greater New Zealand or global business community in a information technology sense over the course of his or her career. The 2012 winner was Sir Ralph Norris.

CIO New Zealand is introducing a new category this year: Engaging Youth in ICT
This will honour and showcase outstanding initiatives by private enterprise, public sector or academic institutions that will interest young people in learning about and successfully pursuing careers in information technology. Our aim is to encourage enterprises to take action to ensure a healthy future pipeline of ICT professionals.
If you have created, adapted or become a significant participant in a programme with the goal of bringing young people into the ICT profession, we encourage you to enter this award.
Judges will evaluate each nomination based on the following:
- Scope of the programme relative to your organisation's size
- Programme sustainability
- the benefits realised by the participating young people, your organisation and your community.
ICT continues to act as a major force shaping and influencing business processes as well as our everyday lives.
The Award categories for 2013 are as follows:
- CIO of the Year - sponsored by NetApp
The CIO of the Year award, sponsored by NetApp, is open to individuals in the most senior ICT management position in your organization. The entrant must be a New Zealand resident and working in New Zealand at the time entries close (3 May 2013).
- Executive Team of the year - sponsored by ClearPoint
The Executive Team of the Year Award (for Strategic Use of Business Technology) sponsored by ClearPoint, honours the exceptional teamwork of the executive team in deploying a business technology initiative that has produced a range of benefits for the organisation.
