Founded in New Zealand in 1993, Orion Healthcare has grown into a global company with 90 percent of its revenue being derived from overseas markets such as the US, Australia and the United Kingdom.

Orion Healthcare reported 50 percent growth in net profit before tax for the 2009 financial year, on the back of strong sales of products such as Rhapsody Integration Engine, Concerto Portal and Workflow Modules, and the Symphonia Messaging and Mapping suite of tools.

Next year will present opportunities and challenges for Orion Healthcare, especially in the US market where the company is vying for a slice of the US$30 billion funding set aside by the Obama administration for healthcare technology.

The company is a small fish in the giant US healthcare pond and will have to work hard to make its presence felt there, as well as other overseas markets Orion Healthcare is active in.
