Police appoint Stephen Crombie as CIO

By Randal Jackson | Wednesday, May 30 2012
New Zealand Police has appointed Stephen Crombie as chief information officer.

He is currently executive director of the Government Service Transformation Programme. Previous roles include deputy chief executive, Knowledge Information, Research and Technology at the Department of Internal Affairs and inaugural general manager of Government Technology Services at the State Services Commission.

Crombie will take up his appointment late in July.

Superintendent David Trappitt, formerly NZ Police liason officer in Canberra, had been seconded earlier as acting CIO.

The CIO role was created following Commissioner Peter Marshall’s appointment in April last year. Murray Mitchell had held the title of ICT manager since 2008.
