WelTec students represent NZ in Cisco competition

Zeb Rawnsley and Aaron de Silva, students at WelTec, will represent New Zealand in networking and taking on the world, after winning a Cisco Networking competition.

The two students were part of the Netriders Competition in September, which was open to all cisco Network Academy Students enrolled in Cisco CCNZ (Cisco Certified Networking Associate) Discovery, or CCNA Exploration, within the ANZ region. 

“Cisco Networking Academy Netriders is a great opportunity for students to showcase their IT/Networking skills and gain visibility among talent recruiters in the growing ICT and networking field,’’ says Emma Broadbent, Cisco Networking Academy area account manager. “To date, over 16,000 Cisco Networking Academy students have competed in Netriders events in over 80 countries," she adds.

Rawnsley was the team captain and de Silva took on the teammate role. The competition format comprised 100 theoretical questions and a 60-minute practical exam, which they completed in 20 minutes.

They will now represent New Zealand as the country's Cisco Networking gurus in the APAC Netriders Competition against Australia.

The two students hope to win the competition and move on to the USA Netriders Networking Competition and win the ultimate trip to Silicon Valley.
